A Success !!!!! December of 2001

This is what the engine looks like today. I picked up the Scoop from a junk yard for 5 bucks whot a deal.

Some of the other things that I've done with her is to flip the shackles in the rear end to gain about 3" and I broke down and put one of them single wire GM alternators in'er.

It's February of 2003 and my next project is her interior. I just picked up a split bench seat it too needs some work but like I said before Ophelia is a keeper so it gets done when it gets done.

Now for a little side story of adventures in Ophelia !!!

I've swapped out Ophelia's transmission a couple of times the story below will explaine.  She's gawt a different trans in'er now and Ophelia does 17's at the strip not bad for a boat anchor. Moldy

I took the trans out of tha Sunliner.. but it's no longer in it.. I blew it up. On I 15 back in December of 2001.

Ya see whot happened was on the way home from Wendover, I had been on the road fer about 4 hrs r so just past Las Vegas...  I wuz in the right lane and approaching a truck.  Ophelia was runnin' better than ever with her new 390 and hard shiftin' trans. [When we put tha trans in we disconnected the kick down cuz it just didn't link up with my column.]

Anyway I had no speedo or tach, there was this spot just in front of me in the left lane, the only thing I had to do wuz ta goose it ta get in front of this here SUV.   That woz the only spot  there woz a line up fer miles behind the SUV..  my only chance so I put'er in passing gear and she went Reeeereerreraarwwwwooow, this only took a split second I got in front of the SUVand threw 'er back into drive then a big puff of black smoke came'a barrelin' out of'er backside and everyone on the hwy. backed away from me.

Well I kept'er a goin' down the hwy.. Folks must'a thought I was on fire.. cuz after the smoke cleared all of the cars were way behind me... fuggin' SUV's

I'm thinkin' that I must of really screwed'er up but she kept a goin'. Once I gawt on 138 she seemed to shift a little rough but she kept'a goin'. When I gawt into Little Rock CA I stopped fer gas and checked her trans fluid... man-0-man the fluid was pretty stinky... So I thought to my self well she's shiftin' a little rough but maybe all I need to do is ta replace or kleen her trans filter and put new fluid in'er.

She still shifted rough rest of the way home (I wuz livin' in Sun Valley back then'bout 45 miles from Little Rock) anyway she gawt me there. When I puled in front of my house I normally back in to my drive way and so's when I put'er in reverse a weird noise came out'of er and there she sit. I wuz lucky She still had a low
runnin' gear so I drov'er around the block and put 'er nose first into the driveway.

The next day or so my buddy David came by.  I told'em whot happened and he offered to help me pull the pan and come up with a verdict.. well sir after we pulled the pan my problem wuz obvious I had Tranz Mc'nuggets all over the place. This here trans wuz toast ... not even worth fixin'

David and I just looked at each other cuz ys see we just put in the Engine and transmission not but a few weeks ago and we didn't want to pull the trans on our backs.

So anyway It just so happened that I had two other transmissions one that I have always had for a spare .. I took it over to this shop and Had them Throw that one in while I saved me up some $$$ ta have Ophelias Original Ford-O- Matic rebuilt.

I finely got the cash and has'er trans rebuilt in June of 2002 right before I was ta go to Wendover again... Boy this trans rebuilt was real strong ran real good but believe it or not the freakin' rebuilt torque converter went out once again on the way home and blew out the trans pump now I wuz stuck in Ely Nevada...

Well sir this is a whole'nother story .. another friend of mine Spoony came to my rescue by bringin' up my spare transmission and drive shaft I still had over at the folks that rebuilt the trans to begin with...

When Spoony showed up I asked e'm where the Trans converter was and he said that wuz all they had given him... well to make a long story short I was lucky enough to find a junk yard about 30 miles north that had a trans converter that werked I had a local shop in Ely do the R&R with my spare good enough to get me home...

When I gawt home I took Ophelia's freshly rebuilt Transmission back to the shop and tore the guy a new you know whot .. He fixed my problem under the warranty and the trans seems to be werking fine... Knock on wood !!!!!!!!!
